Press Release:
England Hockey have given Canterbury Hockey Club the honour of hosting the National Cup Finals for Under 15 and Under 18 Boys and Girls which will be taking place at Polo Farm Sports Club, Canterbury, over the weekend of 10th and 11th May 2008.
A total of over 300 club sides commenced 'battle' last September and over the ensuing months this number will have by April 6th been reduced to just 16 - four in each age group.
England Hockey have continued the practice started in 2006 that this year's event will be a 'Round Robin' where each team will play three matches to decide the winner instead of the usual semi finals and finals.
This has created an enormous organisational and logistical undertaking for Canterbury Hockey Club with 24 games being played on two pitches over two days. However, planning for the event is well under way, utilising the Club's considerable previous experience and expertise in holding major Finals and Internationals at Polo Farm over the past few years.
The qualifying teams for each age group will be determined on 7th April after the quarter finals on Sunday 6th April:
Under 15 Boys:
Under 15 Girls:
Under 18 Boys:
Under 18 Girls:
Hundreds of visitors are expected from all parts of the Country to what is, without doubt, the 'Jewel in the Crown' of Junior Club Hockey and to witness some of the best young hockey players in the UK
