» Submitting match reports
Published 19/10/2004 | Match Reports | Unrated

The Press is important to us from a publicity point of view - improving our visible stature in the community and beyond. The website of course allows for a much wider reach and is accessed by considerably greater numbers than those that might cast their eye over the local press back pages!

The match report section is - importantly - a means of reporting our activities in way that actually helps our friends in the Press. Carry on sending direct to Kentish Gazette's Mark Stokes if you do so already but copy me into the email “loop” so I can keep the web site stuff up to date until YOUR TEAM  enters stuff directly using the system here on the new site!!

Anything posted here will also get to the KG sports desk (separate from Mark I think) and other press esp AdScene who also provide generous coverage.. BBC Radio Kent have expressed interest in certain big match items used for their sports web pages.

- click on Author login on right side menu
- enter the username and pass you have been given by your skipper - contact Creech direct if it's easier!
(after logging in a list of reports and publish progress on these will then be displayed)
- click Submit article on right side menu
- enter title in the fixture date opp format     YYYY-MM-DD - Oppo
eg (2004-10-09 - St Albans)!! This is quite important actually for ordering entries.
- enter report in the Summary panel
(DO MAKE SURE THIS IS TEXT and NOT WORD DOC if cut 'n pasting  ... if you're working from Word, copy and cut 'n past to Notepad to remove hidden Word doc formatting crap and then cut 'n paste from Notebook). Include team list please. Make sure there are no chevrons  like > and < in the text. Please add author details and contact phone number/email.
-Select correct team from the Category list !!!!!!
-Change Type to Summary unless also submitting a picture/doc
-SUBMIT the damn thing!!!

Actually all this is much quicker in the doing than the reading! Any probs, contact me. But it really doesn't get much easier than this.

Viewing reports

The new site's match reports section is accessible by bookmarking the page you arrive by clicking from the right menu :

View Authors/Teams > Team Reports

(This is the combined list of all team submissions, latest reports at the end, which will be tidied up in due course to show just the very latest selection plus a list of previous reports. The press can simply cut and paste directly from here if required.)

Or for individual reports, look under the 'Categories' menu on the left panel ...

Categories > Match Reports > required team  > required match

Picture, docs, comments may be added on first submission or later, and reports amended at any time (ask!).

Any problems  please contact Creech at creech@polofarm.org  or call  01227 766423.

» New match reports system
Published 6/03/2005 | Match Reports | Unrated

Match reports are accessible only DIRECT from the match reports sections of each relevant sports section at PoloFarm.

The new site already reflects the way match reports are used. You can access reports from the Match Reports category menu. Simply 'bookmark' these pages to check out a gradually building collection of reports under for each team.

Example hockey links are:

Visitors, team players - anyone - may add comments to these reports! Or add supplemental material, pictures, etc.

PRESS
The article notification system has ended ... the "new system" actually offers easier access to recent reports.

Options to access these start with going to the 'home' or start page of each section of the PoloFarm web site. Then ...

For specific team and match report access use the 'Match Reports' category menu (left panel) and drill down to the teams and then the latest report for any particular team.

Alternatively, from the right side menu, select 'View authors/teams' and from the list displayed simply choose 'Team Reports' to display a convenient collection of current reports for that section, presently with the most recent at the end. (This list will be tidied to show most recent first, etc!).

INTRO

Hi everyone

Quite a bit of news. We have a couple of match reports for you and up to date league tables.
Also after last week's email all six of your coaches and managers commend you for the much improved attitude, work rate and performance last Monday evening..... well done. Judy apologises for being unable to be there owing to having to travel outside of the county at short notice on Monday evening.
After the two under 16 teams losing their first two matches both teams have won their second ones which is very encouraging. As you can see from the League tables below there is a lot of work to do to get back on track this season and whilst last season us and Brom/Becks cut the pace in both the Mercian Premier League and Kent League so this season it is Reading and Guildford in the Mercian and Sutton Valence in the Kent League. Remember that the top two teams qualify for Mercian finals in May 2007. In the Kent League the top four normally play off in semi finals and finals.

NB
It is likely that there will be a friendly organised against the under 15s before their Cup match on Dec 10th. We hope that plans will be announced at training on Monday Nov 27th. If you are asked to play we very much hope you will make every effort to. Thanks

MATCH REPORTS

KENT
UNDER 16 BOYS LEAGUE
played on
Sunday   November 19th  2006
Canterbury u16s vs  Gore Court  u16s
played at  Gore Court, Sittingbourne
RESULT Gore Court 3   Canterbury  4

An excellent team performance from  the Kent League side saw them take a deserved win in their second match of the season. Due to late retirements Canterbury only had 11 players which meant everyone had to play the whole game leaving them shattered and just holding on to the lead at the end. The first goal came early in the game as Joe put the ball into the bottom corner, Tom quickly got  the second putting Canterbury two up, Gore Court then got goals either side of half time to pull level.

Owen Holton pulled Canterbury back into the lead 15 minutes into the second half and Gore Court again quickly equalized leaving it to Richard Smith to put the winner away for Canterbury with 5 minutes to go.  Brock had a very good game making a number of important saves. Posession in mid-field was fairly even, which meant Charlie L-H and Matt had to work extremely hard in defence. The remainder of the Canterbury team Ben Ludlow, Jamie Hemphrey, Toby  and Dominic H-P also all put in solid performances and all played a major part in the result.

SQUAD:

Joe Blower, Dominic Hudson-Peacock, Toby Green, Mathew Gwyn, Jamie Hemphrey, Owen Holton, Charlie Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Ludlow,  Brock Smith (GK),  Richard Smith, Tom Whitley

MERCIAN UNDER 16 BOYS PREMIER LEAGUE
played on
Sunday   Nov 12th  2006
Canterbury u16s vs   Eastcote u16s
played at    Eastcote HC, Ruislip, Middlesex
RESULT: Eastcote 1  Canterbury   4

Canterbury  under 16 boys  played well away from home under the expert guidance of coach Wendy Tutton  to secure three valuable points in the highly competitive Mercian under 16 Premier League against a strong Eastcote team. After the long journey the Canterbury boys took time to settle and in particular find their target. Whilst the Eastcote goalie was put under extreme pressure, numerous shots went just wide or were saved. A half time score of 0-0 was a frustrating one for the visitors but Canterbury skipper Ant Bull lead his team from the front with constant committment and encouragement.

However within 5 minutes of the break Ross G-J had fired a fierce shot into the netting and Canterbury visibly relaxed and started to play some controlled passing hockey. Just 2 minutes later Ross started a move which ended in Ollie netting Canterbury's second. Eastcote replied from a penalty corner in the 45th minute and fired up by this strived to achieve the equaliser. However the Canterbury defence of Blowers, Clarkie, BP and JT aided by an extraordinary double save by Diccon kept Eastcote at bay. Playing a commanding game in midfield Andy Suthers with Matt Reeve began to take control again and Canterbury's third goal came when Josh passed wide to Ashers who moved down the right, passd to Bully who raced down the sideline, and hit hard into the circle for Ollie to slot his second and a good team goal.

The last goal came 15 minutes from time when from a penalty corner Matt found Ollie on the right post to claim his hatrick and a 4-1 victory.

SENIOR HOCKEY

Well done to everyone playing senior hockey. We are having some highly encouraging reports filtering our way. Special mention to the following who are playing for senior teams, Andrew Sutherland (who is still only 15) is turning out each week for either the Pilgrims or 3s - Anthony Bull who is playing each week with great committment and strength in the 4As, Hugh Smythe and Chris Ashenden both play regularly for the 4As and Ben (Clarkey) and Ollie between his rugby, have had a few run outs also for the 4as. Joe Blower also has been playing senior hockey for 5s and 6s  Dominic Hudson-Peacock, Ben Ludlow, Rory Thompson, and Tom Whitley all playing for the 6s. Also to Charlie Lloyd-Hughes and Chris Podd (Poddy) who in  between their rugby committmenst have also played the odd game for the 6s. And though he is an under 14, Martin Sutherland is more than holding his own in the 6s too. News has also come down that Brock is played very well for the 6s and is their regular keeper.  Owen Holton had his first game for senior mens in the 6s on 25th November and played well so I have just heard from his skipper. We look forward to Toby Green getting his first run out for the 6s also once his indoor cricket leagues have finished! To all the rest of you and that is a lot keep on playing when invited to play for senior teams. (If I have left anyone out then do please tell me !!)

OTHER HOCKEY

Well done to Andrew, Diccon and Ross who represented South East England under 15s at the National Regional tournament in Manchester at the end of October. It was a difficult three days against high quality opposition.
At county level the Kent under 16s (with 5 of our group - Andrew, Anthony, Ollie, Matt R, Joe)  have already won the Southern Championships with one match still to play and qualify for the Nationals in 2008 (yes this is not a typo!). For this year group this is the fourth year in succession that they have won the Southerns and this team have not been defeated in 4 years, drawing two and winning the rest. For the under 15s (with 6 of our age group - Diccon, Mathew G, Charlie, Ross, Chris P, Ben P, Jamie  - this season has been tough but the last round of matches ended with them winning both.
Elsewhere three of our age group - Andrew, Ollie and Anthony - were selected to play for Canterbury under 18s last week in the under 18 Cup against Old Loughts which Canterbury won 2-1.
Many congratulations to all the above.
Also not us forget Adam Sandey who has damaged his ankle severely we wish you a speedy recovery and back playing with the 6s and to Guy Pengelley who was injured playing rugby, came back to hockey traininglast Monday and then strained a hamstring. Get better quick Henry!
