Canterbury were unfortunately defeated by Worcester Park C.C. by 40 runs in the final of the 2008 Regional Competition held at the Kent Cricket Academy.

Earlier in the day Canterbury completely outplayed BT Waldringfield in the semi-final, beating them by 53 runs. Canterbury batted first and reached 101 for 5 in their allotted overs with Paul Steer hitting 37. In reply, their opponents were dismissed for just 48 to complete a comfortable victory. Ryan Minter starred with the ball, leading the way with figures of 3 for 5.

The final against Worcester Park was a completely different matter and similar to our semi-final but in reverse. Worcester Park batted first, scoring 97 for 4 in their overs. In chasing their target, apart from Paul Steer 30 not out, the Canterbury batsmen could not score freely enough and were bowled out for just 57.

Although a disappointing end to our participation in the competition, all the players should be congratulated on their success in what was a very tough campaign.
