Canterbury became County Indoor 6-a-side Champions at the Kent Cricket Academy, Canterbury on Sunday with a 20 run win over rivals Broadstairs.
The first match of the day saw us play Ashford C.C. in the quarter final and batting first Ashford were restricted to just 61. In reply Canterbury reached the target for the loss of just 2 wickets with Paul Steer making 26 and Simon Smith 25 not out.
The opponents for the semi-final were Nonnington C.C. and this time it was Canterbury's turn to bat first. A challenging total of 122 was reached thanks to Paul Steer (30), Simon Smith (20) and Damien Minter (19). Nonnington however was dismissed for 106 giving Canterbury a win by 16 runs.
After a gruelling day the final opponents were Broadstairs C.C., our indoor rivals over many seasons. Canterbury batted first and reached 102 for 2 with Paul Steer continuing his consistency over the day with 27 not out. Ryan Minter assisted in making the total with 25 not out. In reply Broadstairs were dismissed for 82 and therefore Canterbury C.C. became 'Indoor County Champions' by 20 runs.

Congratulations should go to all those involved and we now go on to play Preston Nomads, the winners of the Sussex competition to be played at Portslade Sports Centre, Brighton on Sunday 10th February 2008 commencing at 1pm. Whilst we appreciate that it is a fair way to travel, please make an effort if you can to support our lads who have put every possible effort into reaching this stage of the competition.
