In the spring of 1977, Bill and Dick Laslett (of Canterbury Hockey Club) purchased an overgrown orchard at Polo Farm which started everything off.  Today, our facilities have expanded to become a premier sporting venue and centre of excellence, and are regularly used by our local community including:

  • Canterbury Hockey, Tennis, Cricket and Croquet Clubs
  • Canterbury Christ Church University
  • Local schools
  • Local businesses
  • Individual members of the public.

Polo Farm and Canterbury Christ Church University

Our long term facility sharing partnership has enabled us to upgrade our main hockey water-based and sand-filled pitches and build a brand new multi sport indoor centre.

Other planned improvements include additional tennis courts, a new cricket pavilion and a croquet lawn.  This will all be followed by a new Clubhouse and another water-based pitch.

We have thriving junior sections in all our sports, with numbers almost reaching 1000 children.  Whether you play club sports or aspire to the very top, our excellent coaching programmes for all our sports mean there is something for everyone.

Sports played at Polo Farm

Cricket, Kwik Cricket, Croquet, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse, Tennis and Rounders.
